چکیده

Aim: To Isolate Non fermenting Gram negative bacteria (NFGNB) from clinical specimens of infected patients in a tertiary care hospital and then determine the antimicrobial susceptibility these isolates to Carbapenems Methodology: It was Retrospective Cross-Sectional study conducted department Pathology, hospital, Lahore December 2020-November 2021. The included 4320 received Microbiology lab, for culture sensitivity consisted urine, sputum, bronchial washings, pus, wound swabs, ETT, Folly’s catheter tip, HVS, body fluids, blood etc. All other were inoculated on Blood agar (Oxoid UK), Mac Conkey urine CLED UK). plates incubated overnight at 37°C. Bacterial identification achieved by gram staining, biochemical profile. Analytical profile index API-20NE (Biomerieux, France) used non (NFGNB). Results: Four thousand three hundred twenty processed isolated 651 cases constituting 15.1%. Out GNR, 130(19.97%) NFGNB isolated. Maximum number obtained admitted Surgery ward 46 followed Medical consisting 38 cases, 15 each ICU OPD. Pus/wound swabs yielded majority 58(44.6%), 33(25.3%), sputum 15(11.5%), HVS 14(10.7%). Pseudomonas aeruginosa exhibited 35.29% 32.35% resistance meropenem (MEM) imepenem (IPM) respectively. Conclusion: are emerging pathogens responsible variety infections. These resilient have developed alarming against previously considered last therapeutic resort, carbapenems. Keywords: NFGNB, Carbapenems, Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method, CLSI, meropenem, imepenem,

Characterization of the Extended-Spectrum beta-Lactamase Producers among Non-Fermenting Gram-Negative Bacteria Isolated from Burnt Patients

Background & Aims of the Study: Extended-spectrum beta-Lactamases (ESBLs) represent a major group of beta-lactamases which are responsible for resistance to oxyimino-cephalosporins and aztreonam and currently being identified in large numbers throughout the world. The objective of this study was to characterize ESBL producers among non-fermenter gram-negative bacteria isolated from burnt patien...

Evaluation of brilliance CRE agar for the detection of carbapenem-resistant gram-negative bacteria.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the performance of the new chromogenic medium BrillianceTM CREAgar (Thermo Fisher Scientific) for determining the limit of detection of carbapenem-resistant enterobacteria (CRE). A total of 70 clinical isolates were studied. Of these, 30 were well-characterized CRE, including Klebsiella pneumoniae strains producing KPC-, VIM-, and OXA-type enzymes, VIM-posit...

Epidemiological characteristics and antimicrobial susceptibility among carbapenem-resistant non-fermenting bacteria in Brazil.

INTRODUCTION Non-fermenting Gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii are widespread in the environment and are increasingly associated with nosocomial infections. Extensive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics in hospitals has contributed to an increased number of infections caused by these microorganisms, that are resistant to a wide variety of antimic...

investigated of ampc in carbapenem resistant gram-negative bacteria isolated from burned patients

background : gram-negative bacteria are the most cause of nosocomial infection especially in burned patients. carbapenem resistant strains can limit seriously the choice of antibiotic therapy. ampc can make resistance to carbapenem and detection of that can be useful for identification of carbapenem resistant. the aim of this study was identification of ampc in most prevalent cause of nosocomia...
